Get a Better Nights Sleep!!

There is so much choice on the market, and it really does come down to personal preference, whether you prefer a pocket-sprung or a memory-foam mattress, there are big differences between the best and worst of each mattress type. Make the wrong choice and you could end up with an expensive mattress that is uncomfortable and unsupportive.

How often should you change your mattress?

It is advisable to replace your mattress every 7-10 years. However, if you’re not sleeping well, are waking up with aches and pains, or simply your mattress is no longer comfortable, you may need to change before this time. The fact is that the life of a mattress varies depending on the quality, how you take care of it, how you sleep on it, and how often you rotate it.

What you should look out for:

The feel and firmness of a mattress are down to personal choice, your definition of the soft, medium, and firm may differ from someone else. You will need to take into consideration your body type, weight, and size. If a mattress does not offer adequate support, you will more than likely wake up with aches and pains.

How do you sleep?

We fall asleep in different positions, so in order to choose the right mattress, you need to know if you sleep on your side, back or stomach.

How much do you weigh?

Weight may not seem that important, but it can be crucial when making your choice. The support of each mattress is highly affected by how much you weigh, your height, and your body type.

Different types of materials:

If you want a traditional mattress with natural fillings, such as wool, a pocket-sprung mattress will be a good choice. With these mattresses, each spring is enclosed in its own fabric pocket and reacts to pressure from your body independently.

Memory foam mattresses can be more durable and mold to your body shape but, in some cases, this can increase your body temperature and restrict your movement.

What Do They Cost?

Depending on size and materials, most mattresses today cost somewhere between $200 and $1500. If you are on a budget, there are low-cost options at around $150 or less, or if you’re looking to splash your cash, premium mattresses can cost $5000 or more.

Soft, Medium, Or Firm?

When it comes to firmness, the most important thing is to buy a mattress that you find comfortable. Do not buy a mattress that is firmer than you would like on the assumption that it will be more supportive or that it will go softer in time. Firmness will vary depending on the brand, manufacturers describe the firmness of their mattresses in a range of different ways.
